Who is the man? Who is the man?

You are the man, Jay.

I love this movie!!!!! For me there are movies that you watch and forget, and movies that you watch and watch again, and very few movies, such as "Secret", which you feel so precious that try to control the desire to watch too frequently, like holding back the desire to touch a invaluable gem in the fear that a shallow fingerprint would be left on the impossibly perfect.

You are the man, man. I don't give words on contents of the movie. Movie itself is a language. It speaks for itself.

It's timeless.

The film "Secret" is quite polished for a directorial debut and has layers of subtlety that can be missed with just one viewing. Some have described the love story as saccharine but this misses the subtleties of the interaction between the two main characters. It has all the elements of an archetypal love story - the supernatural; the recognition of the twin soul; the fateful change in destiny; the connection between them at the moment of death; and finally, the ultimate soul test of giving up all, even one's life, for this person.

Jay has, at times, been criticised for lack of facial expression. This is missing the point. Jay is a minimalist actor who uses his whole body for expression, in particular his hands. This is not surprising as Jay has spent a whole lifetime channelling his emotions through his hands and they are superbly eloquent. Note the scene with his father when he finally realises the identity of the mysterious girl in school and that time is running out. His hands completely cover his face but nevertheless express his state of mind and increasing agitation!

If you are looking for an action film to vegetate in front of, this is not for you. But, if you are looking for a film that demands your thought and concentration, then I recommend it.
