The 1st China Films "Iron Elephant Awards", Jay Chou wins Best New Director

The results came out for the 1st China Films "Iron Elephant Awards" which is being attended by film reporters, "Lust, Caution" won 6 awards including Best Film and Best Director, first time director Jay Chou won Best New Director with "Secret". As expected "Blood Brothers" got "Most Disappointing Film of the Year".

Nominated in 8 awards with 9 nominations, last year's talked about movie "Lust, Caution" is a excellent piece of work in the hearts of film reporters. In the final voting results, "Lust, Caution" lost out to "The Sun Also Rises" in the two awards, Best Cinematography and Best Film Music, it did win Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Male Lead, Best Female Lead and Best Supporting Female, the Best Supporting Male went to Andy Lau in "Protégé". Last Year's blocker buster "Tranformers" won Best Foreign Film of the Year.

In the 19 films of 2007 recommended by reporters, there were 4 that were maiden films for the directors, these included screenwriter You Naihai, used exclusively by Johnny To, who directed "Eye In The Sky" and Jay Chou's "Secret". When Jay Chou, who is promoting the movie "Kung Fu Dunk" right now, heard the news he was overjoyed, after finding out that the Iron Elephant is an award chosen by film reporters, he expressed "Then this award is very cool, getting the affirmation of people within the movie industry, I'm very happy".

The film reporters chose the Most Disappointing Film of the Year, the result was "Blood Brothers" directed by Chen Yili.
