Jay Chou's magic for getting girls, Charlene Choi: Not that good

by kelvin@multistars - 28th May 2007

Charlene Choi has a crush on Jay Chou in the movie "Kung Fu Dunk", when Jay and her took a picture together they put their hands over each other's shoulder, it seems they really do have the feel of a pair of lovers; outside the movie, Jay Chou's love life is something people care even more about, he laughed saying right now he's already been made into a "playboy", even his mother is thinking about it, even though he has no choice but to accept it, if there was a rumour that was too over the top, he will still jump out and clarify it.

Having all these rumours around him has not made Jay Chou deliberately keep his distance from female lead Charlene Choi when filming the movie, when they finish filming he would use his best magic performance to make everyone happy, unfortunately Charlene Choi thought "The skills compared to Andy Lau, there's a big gap", all Jay Chou could do was admit while smiling: "Andy Lau started practising magic a very long time ago, of course I can't compare to him."

The thing everyone cared most about was the love scenes in the movie between Jay Chou and Charlene Choi, the answer may surprise the audience: "In the movie we are very "old fashioned" people, how can there be any passionate scenes? Rumours on the net say we have a bed scene, actually there was never such a scene in the script." Jay Chou and Charlene Choi don't even hold hands in the movie, they don't hug or kiss, director Zhu Yan Ping smiled saying: "After the rumours appeared on the net, I thought it was quite a good idea, I laughed saying we need to add a fantasy sex scene, Charlene immediately protested, she expressed why must it always be her fantasising about other people, why not make Jay fantasise about her?"

Yesterday at the whole Asia press conference all the media from Shanghai, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia attended, Charlene Choi, Eric Tsang, Wilson Chen, Chuhe Chen all gathered, Jay Chou was still the focus of attention. Jay Chou threw himself into filming "Kung Fu Dunk", when hanging on wires he got bruises everywhere, he didn't cry out in pain, even filming to the point that his back problem acted up again, they were forced to rest a few days. He even often made requests to director Zhu Yan Ping and action choreographer Ching Siu-Tung for fight scenes to be filmed again, he was named by Zhu Yan Ping as the future "fighting heavenly king".

Jay Chou's anger towards the paparazzo's excessive following and supervision hasn't disappeared, he smiled wryly: "Right now I'm simply "living on the paper", whatever the media writes, that's what everyone believes, if I come out and clarify, you won't write about it, then nothing is right." Even his mother will think about it, occasionally she will ask him if the rumours in the paper are true.

In "Kung Fu Dunk" Jay Chou and Eric Tsang have a very moving scene together, near the end, Jay Chou played the piano on the spur-of-the-moment at the set, this caused Eric Tsang to shed some tears, the effect of the drama was excellent. Even though Jay Chou and Eric Tsang had sparks working together, but he laughed saying he can't have another godfather, in order to avoid jealousy from Anthony Wong who played Eric Tsang's enemy in "Infernal Affairs".

Jay Chou missed the Golden Melody Awards in order to attend the Shanghai movie festival for "Kung Fu Dunk", it was a decision they made earlier, there's no other reason. Before there have been rumours he would play Zhou Yu in "Red Cliff", apart from expressing "Never heard about it" Jay Chou responded with a cold joke: "If they want someone to play Zhou Yu, they should get Zhou Yu Min (Vic Chou)."
