Jay Chou starves for acting and to test his skills

by kelvin@multistars - 5th November 2003

Jay, who is for the first time advancing onto the silver screen, has offered his valuable first time to guest star for 5 minutes in the film "Hidden Track/Searching For Jay Chou". Jay explained that he liked the view of love in the film; it is very like the actual him, who also has a lot of twists and turns on the road of love.

The film "Hidden Track", which uses Jay as a selling point, is Jay's first film, but this time Jay is only guest starring, the real lead is Shawn Yue, Daniel Wu and Denise Ho, etc...The film talks about the female lead Pu Pu, after her boyfriend leaves her, because of being attracted to one of the songs Jay sings she regained hope towards life.

As for Jay, he only appears at the end of the film, he is only in it for 5 minutes and his lines are no longer than 10 sentences. In the film he actually plays himself, even though he is an artist that has millions of fans but in love he is a failure. In the film Jay is down because he has lost love, he met Pu Pu in a restaurant.

Jay frankly said that because the role is playing himself, the difficulty wasn't very high, plus he doesn't have many lines, he only NGed once, twice. But on the day of the filming he needed to "starve" while working. In fact because of him being nervous, he couldn't eat his lunch and then he had to act in front of a delicious strawberry cake. Jay laughed saying that at that time he was getting hungrier as they filmed. Straight after they finished filming this part he even eat the prop cake.

"Hidden Track" is going to be in the cinemas in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan on the 13th of November, Jay will be at the premiere and he will also sing the 6 film songs in the film.

When asked why he gave his first time to a film where he guest stars for 5 minutes, he explained that because the view toward love in the film is very fitting with him.

According to reports, the film company intend to enter his name into the nominations for Newcomer in the "Hong Kong Gold Statue Awards". Jay, who has never been too forceful for awards, said himself that he won't have too much expectation, he only hopes that the audience like his acting.
