Jay Chou retaliates, sets "deadline to sue" against Alfa Music
by kelvin@multistars - 18th May 2007Jay Chou, who has had 50 million of his assets provisionally seized by Alfa Music, yesterday afternoon he appointed his lawyer to retaliate, he issued a "deadline to sue" against Alfa Music, within the next two days the Taipei court is going to rule that Alfa Music will have to decide whether they want to sue Jay Chou for breaking the contract, or else the provisional seizure will cease to be effective. In order to fight for the rights to the works, the dispute between Jay Chou and his old company is becoming more and more intense.
Alfa Music declared provisional seizure of 50 million yuan against Jay Chou, in retaliation Jay Chou appointed his lawyer to request to the courts, to demand Alfa Music "a deadline to sue".
It is said that the courts will rule within the next two days, they need Alfa Music to decide within the next 5 to 7 days whether to sue Jay Chou for breaking the contract or not, otherwise the provisional seizure from before will cease to be effective.
From the start of last month, originally Alfa Music declared provisional seizure of 200 million yuan on Jay Chou to the courts, but Alfa Music couldn't hand over 1/3, about 66 million yuan assurance money, the provisional seizure failed, afterwards Alfa Music reduced the amount and declared again, they handed over the assurance money on time, they finally managed provisional seizure of Jay Chou's 50 million yuan bank savings.
In order to get the rights to the recording and visual work from Jay Chou's 7 albums, both sides are appealing to the law.
