Reporter: I hear that at the Beijing concert you will do a solo of playing the diabolo?
Jay: Not really. Actually I will add elements into the concert from the location where the concert is taking place. For example in Tianjin, I added in Allegro. The part "A Long Journey" is quite unique, if everyone can sing this Beijing opera part together, it will be quite good. The accompanying melody rolls off the tongue easily, there's a chance I'll sing and play at the same time.
Reporter: You've already toured so many cities, how do you maintain that freshness for yourself?
Jay: When I stand on this stage, the fresh feeling comes. In every place, the mood of the fans is different, it's very easy for me to be influenced. The feeling of freshness has always been there. When you're doing a concert, the interaction with fans is direct, it's different from recording an album.
Reporter: You've tried out a lot of looks in your concerts before. One of them was said to look like Terracotta Soldiers.
Jay: Actually I really liked this look, it's a bit more like a concert. You should do things you can't do privately at a concert. For example I would put on some smoky makeup, it's a bit more punk and rock feeling. That one with the Terracotta Soldiers, I think it was not bad, I've always like Chinese style things, that song is called "Unparalleled". In the lyrical parts I might wear a suit and there'll be flowery shirts as well.
Reporter: What's your impression of Beijing fans.
Jay: Every time at the airport there'll be fans welcoming me, it's been like that for a good few years. It's for the fans that I try even harder when I perform. I hope everyone can raise the atmosphere. Whether or not I can fully let go is down to the feeling the fans give me. If the fans are very quiet, I'll be very quiet. If they are crazy, I'll get very high having fun.
Reporter: The venue of the concert is especially big. How will you take care of the fans sitting far away?
Jay: I plan on finding a few clones, a few that look like me. Actually just recently there was a very funny thing, someone who looked like me went to lunch with a girl. I once said to the person who looked like me, on one day we can do a performance. I'll appear over there, on the other side will be another stage, this is a very creative idea. I'll use it at another concert, if I use it now it won't be amazing. Anyway I hear this person is quite busy now.
Reporter: Is filming movies a kind of attempt? Lin Xi once said, he rejects singers who change careers to do other things because record sales don't have a good outlook. How do you see this?
Jay: Nowadays a lot of singers are starting to film MVs, David Tao has said he wants to be a director. I think it's a very good thing, performing artists should be developing on multiple fronts, so they can continually improve themselves. I think it's good to drive this trend.
I will separate them very finely, making music is purely making music. My music won't degrade because I'm a director. I think this is a challenge for myself, and not a comparison with other performing artists. Why did I film a movie so early, one is my own dream, when I'm 28, because I think I'll win first by doing it first. My ambitious attitude, I want to be number one for many things.
Reporter: What do you plan to do next that other people haven't done?
Jay: To film a movie nicely, not to be mocked by Feng Xiao Gang. I think it's still very interesting, and it will encourage me to film even better things.
Reporter: Which side does your work plan focus more on this year?
Jay: The concert. I might only be able to fully concentrate working on the new album after the concert finishes in August of September. Right now I've already written a song, I'll still write songs in this free time, otherwise I'll have no time later.
Reporter: Will this song represent the style of the new album?
Jay: No, I hardly ever have one song that decides the style. I suddenly thought of "Cowboy Is Very Busy", so you can't see the direction from one song. I'm still thinking of new fun points, but I will still keep R&B and hip hop, these kind of rap things.
Reporter: What about plans on the movie side of things?
Jay: It might have to be at the end of the year. I've left myself some time at the end of the year to film a movie, or to be an actor.
