Jay Chou: "I'm only going to be a star, I'm not going to be an actor!"

Reporter: This is the second time a movie you've starred in has broken the hundred million barrier, how do you see your own "box office value"?

Jay Chou: For this question, it's best to let Chu He (another actor in "Kung Fu Dunk") answer it.

(Chen Chu He: "I think it's at least 700 million." Jay Chou: "Oh........" Chen Chu He: "Not only that but it's US Dollars." Jay Chou: "Oh........ha........")

Reporter: Well Jay Chou, does that mean you have a lot of pressure?

Jay Chou: Indeed the pressure is big, I think that the script is obviously important but it's also important to have actors that complement each other.

Reporter: Before you once said you hoped other people wouldn't film you in an ugly way, well what kind of actor do you hope to be?

Jay Chou: Being a star and being an actor is not the same thing. Like Leonardo, he's a star, that's how I think of him, filming movies to be a star, not an actor. Actually I don't have this professional ability, if you watch carefully you'll find out that a lot of my expressions in front of the camera are the same, who's that........just like Nicholas Cage. I think that as long as people think you are acting as yourself then it's a success. I've always been pursuing this natural way of performing. It's the same for albums, just look at the God of songs Jacky Cheung, he maintains his own style, my target is to get to him. As long as you think you are number one then you're number one.

Reporter: Just being a star, will that limit your own roles?

Jay Chou: Being limited is a good thing, when people see this role they'll think only you can act it. In fact the four movies I'm in, not one of those roles is repeated.

Reporter: But being a star, you'll be very far away from getting those professional awards.

Jay Chou: Yes, reality is very cruel, I think it's still more important to look at the box office, awards are the views of 10 to 20 judges, I won't do anything to get these awards.

Reporter: Why not try some new fresh roles? For instance the antagonist.

Jay Chou: Every move of a star is very important, if I went and played a murderer, it would be a bad influence for a lot of children who watch it.
