Besides once opening a clothing brand store, a restaurant and just last month a KTV in Xi'an, recently Jay Chou has opened a tofu store in Taipei, he has named it after the "Fujiwara Tofu Shop" that is printed on the side of the racing car in the movie "Initial D" in which he starred as the male lead.
As to the reason he came up with opening a tofu shop, Jay Chou said that during the filming of "Initial D", because he had to greet tofu every day due to his character, he developed an interest in it. He confidently stated: "Even though you can eat this type of food a lot in Taipei, but this tofu shop of mine has a special taste so I'm not scared of competition, if the response is good, in the future we can open new branches in Mainland China." Jay Chou gave prominence to the movie's elements in the design of the shop, there are photos of him during the filming of "Initial D", the car he drives in the movie is parked at the entrance of the shop.
Jay Chou said that he invests purely for interest and not for profiteering, "Trying out new things, that's what gives life meaning". He continued that he has plans to open a webstore to sell his unique branded items.
