Initial D might get sequel
by kelvin@multistars - 3rd June 2005About Jay's acting Chapman To said that he and Jay were very suited to scenes together, "Originally I thought he was a big star of the music world, but I discovered his performance was actually very exquisite. For instance the scene where him and me fight, Jay's explosive power is very strong, it shocked me." In the process of filming, Jay even gave his CD to everyone, now Chapman To has a lot of Jay's albums in his car. With Chapman's words, he now listens to Jay's songs every day; he has become his standard fan. The director Alan Mak gave a collective pertinent evaluation, "Apart from Jay in the movie, basically the crew were from "Infernal Affairs", everyone had a good understanding with each other. At the beginning I was indeed worried about Jay's acting, but the facts have proven he is good material for being an actor, everyone is very satisfied with his performance."
Mr Zhu, the person in charge of the Media Asia Group, revealed that when they were filming the movie, Jay acted in Mandarin; they showed this version in Mainland China and after the movie was finished Jay dubbed the movie in Cantonese. From watching the Cantonese version shown in Hong Kong and Guang Dong, Jay's Cantonese is not bad at all. According to reports, the Mainland China and Hong Kong version are exactly the same; there are no cuts or changes.
The screenwriter Zhuang Wen Qiang revealed that if this movie sells well they will consider filming a sequel, but they will first need to look at the market response and original copyright questions.
