I hope to get a Grammy award

by kelvin@multistars - 23rd November 2003

Reporter: A lot of fans are chasing all along, do you know? Why don't you have a fans meeting?

Jay: That day I got off the plane, I knew there were a lot of fans waiting at the airport. And on the 23rd early morning there was a new shop opening, originally I had to go, but once the main organisers saw there were too many fans, they cancelled my event. Actually I want to see my fans, but for safety considerations, I didn't go because I was scared of fans having mishaps. If under the circumstances that safety can be guaranteed, I am very willing to see my fans, hold a fans meeting whatever.

Reporter: How's your impression of the Xi'an fans?

Jay: Very enthusiastic, I never thought I would meet so many fans coming to Xi'an, not only this but I saw them holding my new album poster when I was in the car, in fact that album was only released 3 months ago, I really never thought.

Reporter: By filming "Hidden Track", does it indicate that you are will further develop towards the movie side?

Jay: Actually in "Hidden Track" I'm not the main star, my song "Orbit" is the main star. After 3 to 2 years I will be a director and film a movie about a piano teacher.

Reporter: Whom will you pick to be your main star in your movie?

Jay: Of course myself, because if I picked someone else, it will be very difficult to communicate, so why not just do it myself together.

Reporter: What's your biggest music ambition?

Jay: Getting an International music award. The most I hope for is to get a Grammy, the award for performing album award.

Reporter: Your friends always call you "Director Chou", what's the meaning?

Jay: When I'm making an album, I like to control a lot of matters, some people thought I knew a lot, some people thought I loved to control things too much, like a director, thus there was this name "Director Chou".

Reporter: Even though you've already done very well, but have you thought of a break through?

Jay: The "break through" is persisting in not changing. I only hope that whatever time the fans see me it will be the same me. I will work hard to concentrate my efforts in songs to let people know me through music. Next year January, February, the time for holidays, I will calm my mind and write music, I hope that the new album can soon meet the fans. I hear that the Shaanxi Qin Opera is China's oldest "rock", I hope that the record company can buy some for me to listen to.
