Eason Chan talks about Jay Chou: his song is kept 10 years for me
by kelvin@multistars - 23rd May 2007Reporter: In your new album you have recorded "Eliminated" written by Jay Chou, how did you get to work together in the beginning?
Eason: Jay and me were always looking for opportunities to work together, yet we maintained our distance. One time at an awards ceremony, he patted my shoulder "I'll help you write a song OK?" I said yes, the result was that he quickly handed over the song. I didn't listen to it, I left it for a few months, one day I suddenly took it out, I called Jay, is this song still mine? He said even if you sing it after 10 years, the song is still yours!
Reporter: You and him sing "Eliminated", who sings it better?
Eason: I took out Jay's demo of "Eliminated" and listened to it, unexpectedly I was addicted to it. The pronunciation of the lyrics and melody seem to have a chemical reaction, very good! He sang it way too good, as if he had some kind of magic, so when I sing it, it still has his shadow, but recently when I did some campus concerts, I've already basically sang it back to Eason Chan.
